The Tipping Point

This book is a must-read for two reasons: Gladwell's view of the world is important to consider. Also you should be able to compose your own view of the world, and Gladwell models how to do it well.

Gladwell's approach in Tipping Point shows what a Numerati world needs: people willing to develop theories of why things are the way they are. These theories define the questions numbers and stories can answer. Without the ability to see the meta narrative and meta questions, observations and data points are useless.

And it's approachable writing. Gladwell has a novel way of framing questions. It's catchy. Some of it self-evident, some of it refutable, but he presents in a manner that requires you to understand and confront his ideas.

Read Gladwell to see a strong model of how to think and communicate.
