My Retreat

On Sunday, my church held its annual retreat: all the people went to Pennsylvania for a conference. Instead of joining them, Rebekah and I climbed a mountain.

We woke up early; I actually watched the sun rise. The hike was interesting, the hill had a lot of exposed granite we could boulder on and around. We hikes for five hours, but were done at noon. At the end, I bathed in a cold mountain stream. It reminded me of days in 2007 when all I had to do was hike and camp.

I think the forced simplicity of the wilderness makes me refocus. Even though we talked, I had time to appreciate he nature we walks through and ponder the God that made it. This was refreshing. That's what a retreat is supposed to be. I think I may do this next year too.
